Are you tired of drafty windows and exorbitant heating bills? Or maybe you’ve wanted to give your home a facelift, but haven’t been able to justify the cost.
The team at Edmunds has found the solution: $500 off every new window you have installed, up to 10 windows.
But there are a couple of things you should know first.
As much as we’d like to take credit, this offer is actually coming from the Government of Ontario. Specifically, the Green Ontario Fund (GreenON). GreenOn, which is organized through Ontario’s carbon market, is offering the rebate as a tool to combat greenhouse gas emission. This means that, to be eligible, windows need to meet specific standards.
Qualifying windows need to be on ENERGY STAR’s Most Efficient 2017 models list. This list recognizes high performing windows that have demonstrably reduced energy loss, as well as condensation and noise. Look for windows with a low U-factor, as this is the mark of a well-insulated window
Windows must also be built for the climate in Ontario. In ENERGY STAR terms, this means the window must be considered “certified zone 3.” Typically, a window certified for zone 3 is a “true” triple pane window with double LE, as well as argon and super spacers in both chambers.
Which window manufacturers are eligible for the rebate?
There are dozens of different window manufacturers to choose from, many of which offer multiple lines of windows. At Edmunds, we install KV windows, as well as Vinylbilt windows. Both manufacturers offer multiple lines of products that are eligible for the GreenON rebate.
But it’s not just manufacturers that have to meet GreenON standards. Contractors need to be certified as a Window Wise Dealer through SAWDAC.
